This page explains where the health metrics shown in the Vitarego Fit app come from. It is general information, not medical advice. Always consult a qualified healthcare professional before making decisions about your diet, weight or treatment.
Body Mass Index (BMI)
The app classifies BMI using the World Health Organization (WHO) adult BMI classification:
| Category | BMI (kg/m²) |
|---|---|
| Underweight | below 18.5 |
| Normal weight | 18.5 – 24.9 |
| Overweight | 25.0 – 29.9 |
| Obese | 30.0 and above |
BMI is calculated as weight in kilograms divided by height in metres squared (kg/m²). BMI is a population-level screening tool and does not directly measure body fat or account for muscle mass, age or ethnicity.

Daily calorie target
The app estimates your daily energy needs using the Mifflin-St Jeor equation, the equation most recommended for estimating resting energy expenditure in healthy adults.
Basal Metabolic Rate (BMR):
- Women: (10 × weight kg) + (6.25 × height cm) − (5 × age) − 161
- Men: (10 × weight kg) + (6.25 × height cm) − (5 × age) + 5
Total Daily Energy Expenditure (TDEE) applies an activity factor to your BMR:
- Sedentary (little or no exercise): × 1.2
- Light (1–3 days/week): × 1.375
- Moderate (3–5 days/week): × 1.55
- Active (6–7 days/week): × 1.725
Goal adjustment is then applied to your TDEE:
- Lose weight: × 0.80 (a 20% calorie deficit)
- Maintain weight / improve health: × 1.00
- Gain weight: × 1.15 (a 15% calorie surplus)
